Andy von has been learning and performing dance since the age of three. At fourteen she was taken to her first belly dance hafla and fell in love with the dance. She has been learning, performing, instructing and researching the dance genre ever since.

Andy Von also branched out into yoga embracing Hatha in the Iyengar tradition, Ashtanga, and currently trains in aerial yoga on the soft silk trapeze. Andy Von's passion for the dance has carried over into her academic studies, persuing two BA degrees: Religious Studies with a concentration in South and Southeast Asian Myth and Ritual. She also self designed her second major through Interdisciplinary Studies entitled "Dance and the Sacred" to explore the potential religious origins of belly dance genres by examining the Rom "Gypsy" Diaspora from India to America.

Andy Von can perform, instruct, and choreograph in a variety of "belly" dance styles. She is the founder of N.C. State University's first (unofficial) student run belly dance troupe Fayroozat and has been featured in the N.C. State University student paper The Technician. Andy Von performs frequently in the Triangle area and offers private instruction. Andy Von also loves working with educational and non-profit events.
