Shamal is a semi-professional dance troupe led by head instructor and choreographer Andy Von. The name 'Shamal' is Arabic for sandstorm, which begins in Turkey and spreads down through the Middle East, Saudi Gulf, and into parts of North Africa. This sandstorm covers the area of the Roma people, which this dance troupe represents and also celebrates the ethnic diversity of the troupe members, which range from India, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Greece, and America.

The 2009 line up includes leader Andy Von and her top students; Shreyasi, Chelsea, Summer, and Victoria.
